Clocking up ten years of Vasstech
Next month, Vasstech turns 10. Naturally, a lot has happened since we first opened the doors to our first garage in Northallerton way back in August 2009!
So, as part of our ongoing series of commemorative 10-year blogs, we thought we’d pull together some of the more remarkable facts and figures from the past decade.
Here are some of the more memorable moments!
It all started with an idea…
In 2009, we were lucky enough to be able to turn our dream – to launch an independent specialist service centre for Volkswagen Group vehicle owners – into a reality. Our first branch, Vasstech Northallerton, opened its doors in August of the same year, and helped us to achieve our goal – to do things differently to the main dealers.
From there, one branch quickly became four. We were able to follow through with our plans to open three garages in three years – our garage in Darlington opened in May 2011, and our Knaresborough garage soon followed in December 2012. Our expansion across the North East only continued, with our largest garage in Thornaby, Vasstech Teesside, opening its doors in 2017.
With new branches came new staff, and we now have a team of more than 33 across our garages – not bad to say there was only 2 of us in the beginning!
Time flies…
Did you know that since our doors first opened back in 2009, we’ve completed approximately 46,770 MOTs across all of our branches, and have done roughly 84,000 jobs since we first opened?
When you think that we also fit 1,250 tyres a year (on average), we’ve definitely been kept busy!
On average, we also travel over 10,000 miles a year to pick up and drop off cars for our customers. We know how important it is to receive a reliable service, so our local vehicle collection and delivery is great for stress-free service.
Unsurprisingly, we reckon that we’ve served nothing short of 15,000 teas and coffees to our customers as well – that’s nearly 1,500 a year! With free refreshments available at all of our branches and plenty of on-site parking, you’re always welcome to call in if you need to – and grab a brew as well.
2016 was pretty special for us – we welcomed the first Vassbaby! Little Lily may not be so little anymore, but her parents, Andrea and Scott, are still members of the team to this day.
So, what’s next?
While we’re undeniably proud of what we’ve achieved over the past decade, we can’t escape the excitement of the future. We’ve expanded our offering recently to include electric vehicle servicing and have increased our contribution to the surrounding communities – like sponsoring local sports clubs, like Bedale Junior Football Club and Knaresborough Rugby Union Football Club. No matter what, we’re still as committed to serving the vehicles of the North East and beyond to the best of our ability as we were on the day we opened.
