Driving licence changes start this month.

As of the 8th June 2015 the paper counterpart to the photo-card driving licence, which shows  driver’s offences and endorsements, is being replaced by an online service.

Now there will be an online service available allowing for up-to-date information which will help save motorists millions of pounds each year and change the way they share their information with employers and car hire companies.

In 2014 the DVLA had to replace roughly 445,000 paper part licences due to loss, which costs £20 to get a new copy.

Despite the numerous benefits of this there are still some concerns that the changes could cause widespread confusion amongst holidaymakers when hiring cars both in the UK and abroad.

While there maybe some initial confusion you can’t help but think that in the long run these changes will really make life just that little bit easier in the future for the general motoring public as well as making up-to-date online information far more reliable for employers and car rental companies.

To be able to view their driving licence information online and generate a check code to share details with third parties, drivers can visit www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
