Taking care of your car this Autumn…

Taking care of your car this Autumn…

For many people Autumn means crisp brown leaves on the floor, country walks and the sun shining through the bare trees. However all those things we love about Autumn can cause big problems for your car so we have created list in order for you to keep your car safe and healthy in the lead up to Winter.

    Autumn checklist

    1. Lights
As the nights start to draw in you will need to make sure all your lights are working, not forgetting your fog lights, you may need to start using these on your way to work in the mornings.

    2. Tyres
Autumn is a great time to make sure your tyres are all in order leaving them can lead to severe problems in the Winter months. You should check your tyre pressure and adjust accordingly as well as checking your tyre tread depth, which the AA recommend to be 3mm.

    3. Wipers
Your wipers are one of the most important things you will need to check this Autumn with the likelyness of heavy rain and wind your wipers will need to be in tip top condition to deal with all the extra rain and debris flying onto your window.

    4. Fluid levels
Be sure to check all your fluid levels are topped up, including your engine oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, radiator coolant and windscreen wash and don’t forget to stock up on some de-icer for those frosty mornings.

    5. Fallen Leaves
Although the fallen leaves might look nice they can be very dangerous whilst you’re driving so be extra careful around wet leaves as these create slippery surfaces and can cause you to skid or suddenly swerve. Don’t forget to check your car before you set off for any leaves that may cause an obstruction to you.
