Winter is just around the corner… Is your car ready?

Yes folks, sorry to say… Coming toward the end of September now and here at Vasstech we start to get a lot of owners coming in to get their cars ready for the winter weather.

First and foremost it is important that you are safe when driving as the days get colder and the nights draw in. Ensuring that your car is in tip top condition and up to date with servicing is more important now.

Here at Vasstech we not only carry out a full service with our professionally qualified technicians but we also go that step farther and check your tyres, oil and water levels and general condition of hoses and other consumables, including lighting, to ensure that you are ready for the winter ahead.

There are some great tips below that you can use to help yourself but it is always advisable to have a fully qualified technician give your car the once over before we start seeing the temperatures plummet.

Winterising your vehicle – top tips from the IAM

1. Make sure your windscreen wipers are in good condition and you regularly clean the inside of the windscreen
2. Top up your windscreen washer fluid with suitable anti-freeze screenwash and make sure your ice scraper and old cans of de-icer are up to the job.
3. Check your tires thoroughly.
4. Check all lights.
5. Pack an emergency kit in the boot / glove box.
6. If you take any regular, essential medications, make sure you carry enough with you.
